Best education consultancy in Janakpur? A criteria-first guide for Madhesh students: Australia courses, MARA visa advice, IELTS/PTE, NOC, funds and Kathmandu steps.

If you live in Janakpurdham, Dhanusha or elsewhere in Madhesh Province and are searching for the best education consultancy in Janakpur, you are probably weighing two things: who can give honest advice close to home, and how much of the Australian student visa process will still take you to Kathmandu. Both deserve clear answers before you pay any fee.
This guide does not rank firms or claim any office is "number one". It sets out the criteria that matter, which steps can happen in Janakpur, and the warning signs that separate a careful counsellor from a sales desk.
The core of a strong application is the same everywhere in Nepal: the right course, real English ability, a believable study plan and clean financial evidence. What changes in the Terai is the logistics around it. At the time of writing, we could not find an official IELTS or PTE test centre in Janakpur, Australian biometrics are collected in Kathmandu, and the approved medical clinics are mostly in the Kathmandu Valley.
Many Madhesh families make the study-abroad decision together, with parents or other relatives as sponsors. Clear explanations in a language the whole family is comfortable with (for many in Dhanusha, Maithili) matter as much as course knowledge, so ask any office how they will keep your parents involved.
Government permission in Nepal: Nepal's Ministry of Education (now the Ministry of Education and Sports) publishes a search of educational consultancies renewed for the current fiscal year at cims.moest.gov.np, and has urged students to use only renewed firms. Check the firm's registered name there before your first payment.
Registered migration advice for the visa itself: Australian visa advice should come from, or be reviewed by, a registered migration agent. You can check any agent on the official OMARA register (portal.mara.gov.au) by name, business name or Migration Agent Registration Number (MARN). If someone cannot be found on the register, they are not registered to give Australian migration advice. Everest Global Education works with MARA-registered agents, and we encourage every student to check registration for themselves.
Course matching that starts with you: The first conversation should be about your +2 or bachelor's results, any study gap, your budget and your career goal, not one college the office prefers. Ask for two or three realistic options.
Up-to-date Subclass 500 knowledge: Rules changed on 2 October 2026 (see below). Your counsellor should be able to explain the current Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), Genuine Student, English, financial and health-cover requirements without guessing. Our explainer on Australian student visa conditions for Nepali students is a good pre-read.
Discipline with family and sponsor documents: Ask who will check your bank statements, sponsor and income papers and any education loan before lodgement, and whether they will flag gaps honestly.
English test planning tied to your travel: Your IELTS or PTE date should be planned around the nearest centre, your preparation and your intake, with room for a retake.
Written fees and a named counsellor: Ask what the fee covers, what costs extra and who your main contact is. Get the plan in writing.
Support after the visa grant: Pre-departure briefings, housing guidance and someone to call after landing make a real difference for first-time travellers.
Counselling, offers and document preparation: Course shortlisting, applications, academic document checks and financial file review can all be done in Janakpur or online.
Genuine Student answers: Home Affairs now asks applicants to answer set questions in the online application, with a 150-word limit per answer, plus supporting documents. These answers must be your own and must match your documents. See our Genuine Student tips for Nepali applicants.
IELTS for Madhesh students: IDP Nepal currently lists authorised IELTS centres in cities including Hetauda, Chitwan, Itahari, Biratnagar and Kathmandu, and the British Council runs its own venues. We could not find an official IELTS centre in Janakpur itself. Home Affairs does not accept fully online or at-home tests (such as IELTS Online) for visa purposes, so you will need to sit a centre-based test.
PTE Academic for Madhesh students: Published listings show Pearson's PTE centres in Nepal in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Chitwan, Tilottama and Itahari. Pearson said in 2025 that it planned a centre in Janakpur, but we could not confirm that it is operating. Check Pearson's official finder before booking. Our IELTS vs PTE comparison can help you pick the test that suits you.
English score targets: The standard Student visa minimum has been IELTS Academic 6.0 or PTE Academic 47 overall (verify on publish against Home Affairs). Universities often ask for more.
No Objection Certificate (NOC): The ministry issues the NOC through its online portal (noc.moest.gov.np). Many students can apply, pay and download a QR-coded NOC without travelling, but some applicants whose academic records are not yet linked to the system may still be asked to verify originals in person. Confirm your case early.
Biometrics: Australia's embassy in Nepal states that applicants in Nepal must give biometrics (photo and fingerprints) for each application unless exempt, at the Australian Biometrics Collection Centre in Kathmandu, with appointments through VFS Global.
Health examinations: Offshore applicants must use a Home Affairs-approved panel clinic; the embassy says Nepal has six, mostly in the Kathmandu Valley.
Planning the Kathmandu trip: Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines both operate direct Janakpur–Kathmandu flights, and road travel is also an option. Many students combine biometrics, the medical and, where possible, the English test into one visit.
Financial capacity is closely checked in Nepali Subclass 500 files. In Madhesh, sponsor income often comes from farming, land, trade or a family business, which can work when properly documented. Bank history, income papers, relationship proof and any loan must tell the same story.
Under the current financial-capacity instrument, the published living-cost figure for a primary applicant is AUD 29,710 a year, on top of first-year tuition and travel (verify on publish against Home Affairs). Study Australia states that Student visa charges are from AUD 2,500 from 1 July 2026 unless exempt (verify on publish with the Home Affairs Visa Pricing Estimator). Read our proof of funds guide for Nepali students, and avoid large, unexplained deposits just before applying.
New Student visa application rules took effect on 2 October 2026. For most students applying from Janakpur, the biggest points are:
Partners and children generally can no longer be included in a Student visa application unless an exemption applies, and Nepal is not on the Pacific or ASEAN exemption lists.
Student visa holders can no longer add family members after the visa is granted.
Until 30 June 2027, most students must complete 12 months of their main course before changing provider.
The lesson: choose your course and provider carefully while you are still in Nepal, because switching later is harder. Confirm details on Home Affairs.
Because tests, biometrics and medicals involve travel from Janakpur, build in extra time. Starting 9 to 12 months before your course is comfortable for most students. Compare the two main intakes in our February vs July intake 2027 guide.
Promises of a guaranteed visa: Only the Department of Home Affairs decides visas, so nobody can guarantee one.
No name on the ministry list or the OMARA register: If an office cannot show its renewal or tell you who reviews your visa file, keep looking.
Ready-made statements: Genuine Student answers and sponsor letters copied from templates can weaken your application.
Rushed timelines: Squeezing the English test, biometrics and medical into the final week leaves no margin for delays.
"You can earn your fees in Australia": Work rights are limited and do not replace proof of funds. See our part-time jobs guide.
